Advice, homecoming after 10 years !

Hello people of Dehradun, how’s it going?

I’m finally heading back home after almost 10 years, and honestly, it feels a bit surreal. The Dehradun I left behind was a quiet, laid-back town, the kind where weekends meant aimless drives towards Mussoorie.

Back then, Piccolo and Marigold were the spots on Rajpur Road, and going to Orchard felt like a proper plan you made with friends. Cafés were limited, everything shut early, and nightlife basically didn’t exist.

From what I’ve been seeing on this sub and across social media, it looks like the city has completely transformed especially Rajpur Road, which now seems packed with cafés, bars, and restaurants. It almost feels like Doon has grown into a proper mini city rather than the sleepy town I remember.

I’ll be in Dehradun for about 3 weeks, so I want to make the most of it both in terms of nostalgia and discovering what’s new.

What I’m looking for:

The best cafés right now (good coffee)

Restaurants that are actually worth it (any cuisine)

Places that are considered the talk of the town

Good breakfast/brunch spots

Any must-visit newer places around Rajpur, Old Mussoorie Road, or nearby

Also curious about:

Are there still pockets of the old Doon vibe, or has that mostly disappeared?

Cheers

tldr;

Coming back to Dehradun after 10 years. Last I remember: Piccolo, Marigold, Orchard days. Now it looks like Rajpur Road is full of cafés and nightlife.

In town for 3 weeks — need:

Best cafés & restaurants

What’s actually worth it vs hype

What’s changed in the city.

Any old-school spots still worth revisiting.
