Psychological Horror Is Way More Disturbing Than Gore Horror
I’ve realized psychological horror affects me way more than gore-heavy horror.
Books like The Silent Patient, Penpal, and Tender Is the Flesh stayed in my head long after I finished reading them because of the tension and unsettling atmosphere rather than pure violence.
I think the scariest horror books are the ones that feel psychologically possible.
For me, Penpal was especially disturbing because of how realistic and slowly terrifying it felt.
