Reli On - Premier Classic question
When I first got diagnosed as a diabetic, I purchased the Reli-On Premier classic. Why? It was cheap. After some suspicious readings, I decided since this was a long term issue, to invest in the Contour NEXT stick version.
I ate dinner tonight, and decided to try both two times, with the contour saying 146 and 143, and the Reli-on giving 154 and 197 respectively. No matter what I eat, it gives me these varying results. I had a salad and nuts for dinner once and it still said my glucose level was 181, and it reads my fasting glucose as anywhere from 104 to 137.
I do know my current A1C and glucose level, since I recently had bloodwork done, and my current A1C is 5.5 and my fasting glucose level listed from the labs was 86. The Reli-On stated it was 126 with the Contour stating it was 90.
Does anyone know if this is just possibly the fact that it might be defective? Or could it be the fact I paid 10$ for it? And does anyone have experience with any more expensive reli-on meters? Because contour strips are pretty darn expensive.
