Anxiety and depression + GI issues with low B12 and ferritin

My B12 is at 230 and ferritin is at 11, while everything else is in range. These deficiencies are most likely because of my diet and not an underlying cause.

Because they’re diet related, it seems like it will be an easier fix and the levels should be able to be reversed with oral supplementation, so I’ve started supplementing both daily starting today (I used to take b12 probably once every 2 weeks and I’ve never supplemented iron).

I’ve been dealing with pretty bad anxiety and depression for the past few months, as well as GI issues, and I’m wondering if these deficiencies likely played a role, and if so how much of a role. Does anyone have an idea?

I’m also a bit annoyed with my PCP. I inquired about further testing last year, and she said any deficiencies would show up on my CBC. I pay out-of-pocket to see an osteopath, and he’s the one who urged me to get a more extensive work up. I also realize now I should’ve gotten an MMA test, which I’ll be requesting at my appointment with my PCP next week.

Ferritin at 11. Advice on supplementation?

I just got my blood work back, and I’m wondering how much iron I should be taking daily (or should I be taking it every other day?). The things I’ve read online haven’t been consistent.

I recently purchased a supplement that has 30mg of bisglycinate iron and 100mg of Vitamin C.

Should I take one per day? 2 per day? 2 every other day? If 2 a day, should I take them together or space them out?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Persistent GI issues. Any suggestions on what to try?

Hi all, I’ve been dealing with ongoing GI issues and could really use some guidance on what supplements might actually help.

I’ve been having frequent nausea, loose stools (especially in the morning), and stomach cramping. It’s been happening consistently for a couple of weeks now rather than just a one-off thing.

I’ve already tried taking ginger supplements (NOW brand) and a probiotic with Saccharomyces boulardii, but neither has made a difference. I also take magnesium glycinate daily, but that hasn’t seemed to make a difference either. I do plan on seeing a GI specialist, but it’s a bit of a wait and I’d really like to feel some improvement as soon as possible.

For context, I’m otherwise healthy. I haven’t made any major changes to my diet recently, and my basic labs (CMP, etc.) have all come back normal.

At this point I’m trying to figure out what direction to go in. Does this sound like gut irritation, dysbiosis, IBS, or something else? Are there any supplements that have actually helped you with similar symptoms?

I’m open to trying things, I just don’t want to waste money on random supplements that aren’t likely to help.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏼
