Gmail notification issues

Hey everyone,

I’m dealing with some incredibly frustrating background process issues on my Oppo Reno 6 Pro running ColorOS, and I'm trying to figure out if there's a legitimate fix or if this OS is just designed this way to pad battery stats.

The Problems:

Notifications & Sync are dead in the background: Apps like Gmail and Google Fit will not push notifications or update. They only sync after I manually open the app.

The "Double-Tap" Widget Bug: If I click a widget (like the Google search widget), it doesn't open on the first tap. The first tap seems to just wake the app's process from a cached/deep-sleep state, and I have to tap a second time for it to actually register and open. This only happens on this phone.

The Root Cause:

ColorOS is aggressively killing or freezing background apps, blocking Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), and suspending widget refresh rates. The OS forces apps into deep sleep to save battery, meaning nothing updates until you manually interact with it.

What I've ALREADY tried (that hasn't fixed it):

I've dug through all the nested settings, so please skip the basic troubleshooting. I have already done the following:

Set apps (and Google Play Services) to "Allow foreground/background activity" and turned ON "Auto-launch".

Hard-locked the apps in the recent apps menu.

Disabled "App Quick Freeze" for the affected apps.

Disabled global "Sleep standby optimization".

Gone into Developer Options and turned OFF "Suspend execution for cached apps" (and rebooted).

Reinstalled apps and cleared the system launcher cache.

Even after doing all of this, the notifications are still delayed, and the widgets still require a double-tap. The only "workaround" I've found is using third-party alternatives (like Outlook instead of Gmail) because they seem to maintain their own sync better on Oppo.

Has anyone found a real, permanent solution for this? Is there an ADB command to nuke this aggressive app-killing behavior, or do we just have to live with the OS restricting basic background functionality?

Thanks in advance.
