Need help with planning a small desi wedding in Ontario
Hey everyone,
My partner and I just started planning our wedding for October 2027 in Ontario, and we’re a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out what’s realistic.
We’re hoping to do a 2-day Indian wedding (haldi/mehendi, sangeet, wedding + reception) with around 50-80 people (flexible to the downside but it will def be about 30 min) , and we’re trying to keep the budget around $50K. I know that’s tight, but we’re flexible with cost here and there if needed.
One big thing for us is that we’d really like accommodation for guests included somehow -- either a hotel block or something like an Airbnb/cottage setup where people can stay together.
Right now we’re stuck between these two ideas:
- Hotel wedding:
Everything in one place + guest rooms
which kinda feels easier, but also feels like costs will spiral fast with multiple events
- Airbnb / cottage style:
Rent a big place (or a few nearby ones), do haldi/mehendi/sangeet there, maybe hire a chef or caterers, and then do the wedding + reception at a venue for one day
this one sounds more fun/intimate, but not sure how practical it is
Also very open to combining events or simplifying things if that’s what it takes. Would really appreciate any advice. thanks!
