I am a tamil myself and I just returned from jaffna after a trip.

I noticed that there's a lot of caste discrimination based on the village you're from, your family profession (toddy tapper, fishermen) and there's untouchability (parayar, dalits, etc.,)

The whole notion of Tamils wanting a separate country in my understanding had been them undergoing discrimination by the sinhalese.

But the Tamils have systematic and institutionalized discrimination within themselves upto this date.

Had they gotten an own country, what would have happened to this system? Or was it through out the elites trying to use their political clout for their advantage?
