Howdy folks,

I live down in Miami and for as long as I've been down here my skin has been terrible. I wash my face and it'll be oily again in an hour, even if I'm indoors. When I spend a few days in Colorado my face clears right up. Hair looks better than ever.

I work from home so I figure it might help if I just plop a dehumidifier near the computer where I spend most of my time. Worst case scenario it doesn't help with my skin but owning a dehumidifier doesn't feel like a bad idea in a swamp.

I tried to do some research about this and found all kinds of different info, and some of it led me here.

Is it nonsense to consider two small units placed in the places I spend most of my time?

Are there brands/models I should consider or discount if I'm looking for:

  • Doesn't produce a lot of heat (we have plenty here)
  • Is quiet
  • Does it make sense to try to have them running only during the times when I'd be in the rooms where they are located?

Sorry I'm sure you get a ton of "what dehumidifier should I get?" posts but I didn't see a buying guide wiki or anything and I did see some comments like "in order to recommend a dehumidifier we should know more about your specific scenario"
