Odd Haircut Experience

Hi there,

I had the weirdest haircut and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if this is a normal practice for some stylists. I came in for a haircut, and the stylist is usually late, so I waited.

The elderly man sat in the chair while she finished touch-ups, then left. She told me to sit at the wash station (no drape/towel), and I had to ask for a towel because I was wearing white and saw some hair dye on the arm of the chair. As I was sitting waiting to get my hair washed, she applied toner to her own hair in a bun.

We go to the haircutting chair, dusted with white whiskers from the previous client. I started wiping them off with my hand before I sat, then she took a towel and wiped the rest away. Hair is still on the floor, but it's white, so it's less noticeable?

She wet-cut my hair, left to wash her hair in the sink, then she comes back, blow-dries my hair. The appointment was 30 mins. Is this how some stylists operate or is this odd?

She gives me great haircuts, but this past experience made me feel marginalized and like an inconvenience. I didn't know what to say. I don't want to find a new stylist, but maybe this is her way of telling me to go away?
