Anyone here successfully replaced their grass lawn with something more suitable to our increasingly hot and dry climate? What did you use?

I have a large lawn that is in no way plush. It is a combination of weeds and always-dead grass. I don’t want to use chemicals, I don’t want to use a ton of water, and I don’t want to spend money trying to keep grass going when the climate doesn’t want it anymore. I’m thinking clover, but open to any ideas.

My lawn is relatively flat (but not levelled), dry, and full sun.
