I had a flight from BKK-MUC-IAD operated by Thai Airways and Lufthansa. The Lufthansa leg MUC-IAD was cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled flight due to the Lufthansa strike.

I had to rebook and was put on a flight with a connection that departed more than 4 hours sooner.

Would this situation qualify for EU261 compensation? Lufthansa is saying no but I thought it did since it departed more than 1 hours than my previously scheduled flight and it was cancelled within 7 days due to circumstances within the airlines control.
