Overheard in a Baus video, but I don't think he explained why you wouldn't take an inhib turret.

What's the reason to take the platings but not kill one?

Solved: it's because without a turret in the lane, your minions will pretty much always clump and die in front of enemy inhib, with it rarely bouncing back favorably to you.
