Part III - The hunt for Ellie?

There will also be spoilers for breaking bad in this. The entire point of the first game was for Ellie’s immunity to mean something. IMO from what we learned at the end of the first game, that she would need to die for a vaccine to be created, she was given a death sentence from the start. Much like Breaking bad, another piece of media with incredible writing, he was also given a death sentence from the start. Like chekovs gun, if a gun is introduced, it will go off. I feel like Abby will at some point mention to the fireflies that she had found in Catalina, that “the girl” is still alive and the third game can follow her reluctantly searching for Ellie. (This is given that where would even be a chance someone is still alive who could make a vaccine) A lot of people also seem to think Ellie won’t go back to Jackson after the end of Part II which would coincide with the search perfectly. What do y’all think?

Edit: I also forgot to mention the internal struggle Abby would be dealing with while she is hunting for Ellie. Does she have much more sympathy for Ellie now? Also maybe the fireflies had held out hope and this community on Catalina is decently advanced with students learning to be capable doctors of some kind.

I’m hyped but are we confident in naughty dog to work on two games at once again?

Not talking about intergalactic as they’ve almost finished that and I also doubt that if they’re working on an uncharted game, it’s unlikely to be close to finished. And Neil Druckman has been hinting at the beginning of development on TLOU3. After uncharted 3 lacking a bit in story because a lot of the team was split on also working on the first Last of Us, do you think they can do the same thing again but successfully? Ngl if Neil is heading both he seems to care a lot more about TLOU as a whole. Love both series so fingers crossed

Open worlds becoming more common : Discussion

The main part of naughty dog games I’ve loved since I was a kid was, of course the story, but most of all the set pieces! An open world, with the way they’ve been doing them, hasn’t accounted very well for what I grew up knowing them for. And for many other people as I’ve seen. I’m just wondering what you all think, after the company has been adding more open world stuff to the games since uncharted 4.

Ps: also I will say that the uncharted 4 “open world” part or whatever you’d call It was done perfectly. But anything past that like lost legacy and last of us 2, I’ve rushed through the open world as fast as possible because it felt like a drain on the consistent story. Even when they’d add little story dialogue during these parts, it still felt like it could be done better with a more linear play through.
