Been listening to the first interrogation a lot just to see if I’m missing anything…
First off, Coder does an amazing job at coming across as sort of bumbling and knowledgeable on the case. He does such a good job at letting Chris talk and not getting in his way. Also very good at stroking Chris’s ego with the weight loss praise and etc. IMO the whole interrogation is Coder playing mind games with Chris, even when he’s not actively asking him about infidelity or if he did it. There are a lot of moments where Coder is asking the same question different ways trying to see if Chris changed his story. And enough times where he essentially puts it into Chris’s mind that he KNOWS what he’s saying is BS… like the Preschool call topic, or calling hotels and etc.
Second… if you pay attention, besides the distancing language Chris often used (before he corrected himself), you can hear phrases and thoughts of how annoyed he was with ShanAnn. Paraphrasing here… but Coder asked “Is the closet missing some clothes to where she might’ve taken stuff to leave” Chris immediately goes “I mean… she has so many clothes in there… it would be hard to tell”. Signaling that he doesn’t think she needs all those clothes/probably was angry with her for spending money on things he didn’t think were important. “Does she have a laptop???” “Yeah… but she barely uses it….” Chris must’ve bought it for her and since she didn’t use it, he resented her bc in his narcissistic brain, he felt “Oh I’m the savior for getting this for her”.
“When we look into your phone, what is something we can look for that might help us” “you know the only thing that’s weird is… when she uploaded it to the cloud it duplicated all of our contacts… so there’s double of everyone in there” him getting angry at ShanAnn for syncing their contacts and now he’s got duplicate contacts. Coder plays it off by saying “Yeah I hate that!!!”
The whole interview with Coder came off as Chris being annoyed at things ShanAnn did…
