Uber drivers - are tips disappearing in Canada or is it just me?

I’ve been driving Uber rider trips for a little over a month the past 3 days I did 43 trips in GTA… and only one person tipped. $3.18 total. That’s it.

I’m honestly trying to understand what’s going on. Is it just bad luck, or is this becoming the norm now in Canada?

A few things I’ve been wondering:

Are riders just financially stretched right now and cutting out tips?

Do people assume the fare they pay already includes a tip?

Or has the app experience changed in a way that people don’t even think about tipping anymore?

I keep my car clean, drive safely, don’t cancel rides, and try to be polite without being over the top. So it’s a bit frustrating seeing basically zero tips across that many trips. More over the number of trips offered by Uber considerable dropped lately, though I remain in the High demands areas and have 5* rating.

Not trying to complain and this is just genuinely curious if other drivers are seeing the same trend lately. Has tipping dropped off for you too?

Earlier I used to do only Uber Eats and have a better tipping rate than for the rider trips these days.

And for riders , what’s your mindset around tipping on Uber these days?
