Before/after App Store screenshot redesign. Trying to improve clarity and hierarchy

Before/after App Store screenshot redesign. Trying to improve clarity and hierarchy

I redesigned these App Store screenshots for my own app Spending Pulse and wanted design feedback, not marketing advice.

The objective was to communicate the value faster. The old version was more feature-led, felt flat and too literal. The new version is trying to lead more with outcomes, stronger headlines, and clearer visual separation between screens.

The audience is people quickly scanning an App Store listing and deciding in a few seconds whether the product feels relevant.

Would appreciate blunt feedback on the visual communication.

3-week-old app, 36 downloads, multiple changes inputs at once, unclear reasons. What should I test do next to improve growth?

I launched a mobile app 3 weeks ago and it's currently shows 36 first-time downloads. The biggest boost was during past week where it jumped from 12 to to 24 downloads. That’s not impressive, but I think it's a positive signal that something is working for what I did during that week

The problem is I changed multiple things at once together:

  • keyword research
  • ASO / metadata cleanup
  • posting on Reddit
  • posting on Twitter/X

So I can’t really tell which part actually worked.

I assume I improved visibility a bit, but conversion is really really low. I suspect the screenshots are not good enought, because they show the product, but probably don’t communicate the value fast enough.

So looking for so advise on how to proceed next. Some additional numbers for context:

  • Impressions: 7.29k
  • Product page views: 171
  • Conversation rate: 0.6%

The app is called Spending Pulse on the app store, maybe some marketing gurus can share the knowledge.

36 downloads in 3 weeks, and I still don’t know what actually worked

My app is only 3 weeks old, and this is the first time I’ve felt like I’m seeing a real signal instead of just random noise.

Over the last week I did keyword research, cleaned up the ASO metadata, and also posted on Reddit and Twitter/X. App Store Connect now shows 36 first-time downloads in the current window, which is at least enough movement to make me stop feeling completely blind.

The problem is I changed too many things close together, so now I can’t really tell what actually helped. My guess is I improved visibility a bit, but I still think the screenshots are the weakest part of the listing. They show the product, but probably not the outcome clearly enough or fast enough.

For people who’ve been through this early stage before, what would you test next: screenshots, title/subtitle, more external traffic, or just waiting longer before changing anything again?
