Where are my Chicago drivers?

I know you're out there, I see you every time I'm in the city. Hello!

I'm looking at apartments for when I move back next school year. Right now, I'm in Lake county but will be in Chicago next school year.

Give me all the tips on living in the city and driving a Volt. I drove down and mostly drove in Edgewater. _It was awesome._ Out in Lake County I get way less EV efficiency as my commute is a mix between stop and go but also 45-55 speeds; all on the same state highway. In the city I was getting a good 3.8 mi/kWh versus 2.5-3.0. That also could be the weather as I just bought my Volt in April.

Charging out here hasn't been too bad. The town I live in has free chargers at two government buildings. I can either walk the walking trail by one or run up to the main street for food.

What's the best charging situation? I've seen 2 or 3 parking on the street multiple nights in a row. I've noticed that parking in Chicago, especially near your apartment as it seems, can be a struggle.

Best way to coast?

This is literally the stupidest question but I would down shift in my manual to reduce speed without using my brakes.

So part of this is me still getting used to driving an automatic. But I feel like when I attempt to coast in drive, it's just not sufficient for stopping unless I have miles notice.

What am I missing?

Hi friend!!! An honor to park next to you (although you parked next to me.)

Recap: I posted almost a month ago about my situation. Ultimately, the alternator on my Fit crapped out on me. I'm currently 5 hours away from home and don't have access to a good place to do the work, let alone all the tools. He also needs a myriad of other routine maintenance that I've been putting off. I've been a really bad Fit owner.

Jump to now: I bought myself a used 2017 Chevy Volt, which is a stark difference from an '08 Fit, but I really enjoy it. After sitting in my hotel parking lot for two weeks, I finally shipped my car back home. He just arrived and I'm being very somber about it all.

I'm very excited to put some real work into him. What are some upgrades and after market parts you have on your Fits?
