Need help

Hi, so I had a tooth abscess about 8 months ago. My dentist recommended a root canal treatment (RCT).
Since then, the treatment has been going on for a long time. Across multiple sittings (5+), she has been injecting the tooth(some antibiotics ig) which are quite painful.
Even after 8 months, the treatment is still not complete, and she continues to recommend these injections at each visit.
The tooth still pains if i by mistake eat something from that side and it's just baddddd
I’m starting to get concerned:
* Is it normal for RCT to take this long?
* Are repeated injections during multiple sittings standard practice?
Thank youuuuuuu
