Why are dolls such a polarizing art form? It's accepted to paint portraits, collect sneakers or customize cars, but if you make dolls, you can get a lot of discouragement.

This is specific to American culture as far as I can tell. I have a passion for doll making, and lost a friend today for owning it, so I'm really looking for some kind, explorative things from my fellow doll people to cope better. Chose my identity over a 15 year friendship because I'm tired of being treated like it's a quirk that I need to fix when it's actually a gift. Also hope this reaches someone going through similar tribulation because I let myself be belittled for too long.
