The only way to unlock my online Chase account is by installing software and running a scan? Seriously lol?

Opened a Amazon Chase CC a few months ago, everything has been smooth. Zero issues, randomly my account gets locked. I call in, send a bunch of details to the fraud department to verify my identity. Few weeks later I get a new card in the mail and a letter saying they've verified everything and my account is good for use.

Been using my CC consistently with no issues on Amazon. Been making payments through the self service IVR no issues and keeping the balance at $0. Today I decide to login online so I can stop using the self service IVR system and save time. Get met with the message that my account is locked and to call the number provided to get it unlocked.

Call said number, get told this is not the right department despite pressing all the right buttons in the IVR menu, then I'm transferred to Chase's Tech support team. The guy goes through the history and states that I need to run an antivirus program on my PC to get my account unlocked. It seems so fishy and unprofessional.

Is this really the only way to get my online account unlocked? What are the steps, do I have to run a virus scan, take a screen shot of said virus scan then email that to chase? How is this actually preventing anything fraudulent? Can't someone just photoshop or fake scan results with these antivirus programs?

Guess I'll just keep making payments over the phone and let my online Chase account remain locked.

Edit: u/Tarnisher is spreading false information. Thankfully someone who actually worked at Chase for 15 years came into this thread and gave more detailed information. This is Chase policy, so big ups to everyone upvoting Tarnisher for spreading false information.
