I applied for the fashion pathway in foundation at UAL but they offered me 3D design instead, claiming they saw me more fit for costume design. I’m not completely against this idea if I’m still able to progress on to fashion at CSM but I’m also very unsure because it’s not what I actually want, since my main interest is fashion and I’m not sure I’ll be able to fully shift my focus on to that while doing 3D design. I doubt I’ll have the freedom to just do the costume design aspect of 3D design. And it’s a lot of money I’ll be wasting if this course isn’t what’s right for me.
Im worried if I don’t do the foundation I won’t be able to progress into fashion design at CSM since it’s suggested you do their foundation for a better chance at being accepted.
Should I take this opportunity or save myself the money and attempt to reapply for fashion design womenswear next year?
I could use a gap year focusing on a solid portfolio and developing my skills or would I be better off in 3D design with tutors to support me? But then again they’re not fashion tutors…
