Ontario LTB hearing in 1 month — landlord locked thermostat, delayed repairs, blamed me for leak. What should I prepare/Do?

I’m a tenant in Toronto and I recently filed an application through the Landlord and Tenant Board. My hearing is about a month away, and I’m looking for practical advice from people who have been through the LTB process before.

Since moving in, I’ve had multiple issues with the unit, including heating/thermostat problems, AC issues, and a water leak investigation that caused repeated visits to my unit. The thermostat was locked, so I couldn’t control the temperature myself, and when problems happened, the landlord blamed me for damage even though I believe the issues were caused by old/pre-existing maintenance problems. There was also a leak issue from around January to March where contractors/building staff came multiple times, sometimes with little notice, and I was even told not to shower until it was fixed. Later, the leak was apparently traced to a missing bathtub overflow plate, which I believe should have been inspected before I moved in.

On top of the maintenance issues, the communication from the landlord has felt accusatory and threatening. For example, I was blamed for damages I don’t believe I caused, and I was told that if I didn’t provide access, charges could be put on me. I’ve saved screenshots/text messages and I’m trying to organize everything properly before the hearing.

For anyone who has dealt with the LTB before:

Any tips would be really appreciated. I’m not looking for legal representation here, just practical advice from people who understand the Ontario LTB process.

I think the wait is finally over 👀 Wealthsimple budgeting is here?

Just noticed this new budgeting function pop up in my Wealthsimple app. Looks like they’re finally rolling out something we’ve been waiting for — pretty exciting to see Wealthsimple moving more into full personal finance tracking.

honestly love Wealthsimple and this is the first real issue I’ve had with the platform, but today was extremely frustrating. Starting in the morning and basically throughout the whole day, I couldn’t get trades to go through in either my TFSA or my non-registered margin account. It wasn’t just one order either I tried both stocks and options, and they kept getting rejected. Even some TFSA dividend reinvestments got rejected. The confusing part is my margin health screen clearly says “You’re in good standing” and shows $129,863.16 CAD margin available, $432,877.20 CAD max buying power, $126,848.82 CAD available to withdraw, and only $17,655.78 CAD total margin used. But when I tried to trade or even remove my TFSA from being used as collateral, the app said one or more margin accounts was under-margined or not in good standing. I called support and was told it might be because of unsettled funds in the TFSA, but I don’t understand why that would lock up trades/collateral controls across both accounts when the margin page itself shows everything is healthy. Has anyone experienced this before or know what could cause it? I missed a few trades today because of it, so just trying to understand what happened.
