Let There Be Rack

A guitar rig that has 7 guitars always plugged in, ready to rock. No pedals, just MIDI foot switch, KSR Ceres, and 3 expression pedals. One button patch changes. 9 microphones on 18 speakers in various cabs on an ISO booth. Three 4x cabs and three 2x cabs. Fast real time routing for external effects, external comps, and master bus with RME interfaces.

Guitar rig is based around EL84, EL34, and 6L6 power amplifier output sections with various preamps for tonal variety. The centerpiece being the Sound Sculpture Switchblade ET’s by Ken Czepelka (R.I.P.)

I started with the ADA MP1 in 1988 as my first purchase, but the Rockman was my first actual exposure to MIDI, the original XP100 amplifier was replaced with the Rockman XPR, mine is a pre-production prototype.

Fractal Axe FX III is the new addition, this attempts to cover a lot of ground from real world gear and is mostly comparable, but my heart remains with the older originals. Volume, resonance, harmonic complexity.

Celestion Heritage Greenback G12M 20w, Heritage Greenback G12H(55), Heritage Greenback G12H(75), Greenback G12M 25w, Alnico Blue, Alnico 100, Mesa Vintage 30, Eminence GA-SC 64… all pairs.
