The latest chapter makes it seem like Imu has some kind of limitation whenever he leaves Mary Geoise.

At this point, he’s easily the top candidate for having undergone the immortality surgery from the Ope Ope no Mi. But something just clicked for me — Ope Ope no Mi users always create a “Room” to use their abilities, right?

What if the Room used during the immortality surgery was extended to cover all of Mary Geoise?

That could explain why Imu appears restricted outside of it. Maybe leaving that space weakens him or makes him vulnerable, like he’s stepping outside the range of whatever is sustaining his immortality.

TLDR: Imu’s immortality is restricted to the ‘room’ used for the immortality surgery
