Just want to give a shoutout to backmarket for including orange grime in between every key of my professionally refurbished, “excellent” MacBook Pro.
Let me preface this by saying, I have been taking care of and propagating jades for years. I give successful propagation as gifts and have about 7 or so healthy jades in my house.
This one is making me question if I ever knew what I was doing.
I brought home a cutting from California (in my carry on, hence the scorched earth with the leaves), and have now been waiting nearly 8 weeks for this thing to grow some sort of root.
I let it callous over, I put it in well draining potting medium, I made sure a node was under the soil, and its in a south-facing window.
There are 0 roots an no sign of any to come.
There are, on the other hand, new leaves sprouting out from 4-5 different locations, as you can see in the photos.
What gives? Am I simply not being patient enough? I have never waited this long for any jade cutting to grow new roots.
I do have it in a very loose potting medium, due to some early on rotting issues that I corrected by cutting away and letting it re-callous for a few days.
I will admit, this is the largest cutting I've ever attempted this with, but still, what the heck?
