I create portraits that only appear when 600 pieces/pixels cast their shadows. No paint, just light and shadow

600 pixels made from paper revealing an image when you turn on the light.

Image is created only with shadows casted.

Can you guess the woman shaded with such a few pixels?

Just finished a low pixel paper artwork, revealing an eye when the light is on

this is a proof of concept made from paper pixels of larger wood pixel artworks i am planning to make, in higher resolution.

I'd like your opinion how it reads to you and your suggestions are welcomed

I made a paper pixelated artwork that only reveals through light and shadow

This is a small paper prototype of a project I’m working on.

It uses only a few large “pixels” for now, just to test the basic idea: the image appears through light and shadow.

Each piece has a different height/angle, so when the light hits it from the right position, the shadow forms the hidden image.

This demo is made from paper, so it’s handmade, but the final version will be made from wood or another solid material, with cleaner cuts, better precision, and a built-in light source.

For now, I just wanted to see if the illusion works at a small scale — and I’m pretty excited that it does.

I made a shadow pixelated artwork with just 400 shadow casting pixels

Actually it is a paper mockup now, i plan to make it with wood pixels soon, low and high resolution. More info on my Instagram
