Consignment-heavy yarn shop: interesting idea or just messy?

I run a small yarn shop and ended up leaning pretty heavily into consignment, but not really for the usual reason.

What I was actually looking for was some kind of proper space for yarn resale. There’s a lot of good yarn just sitting in people’s stashes or getting passed around in random destash groups, and it always felt a bit scattered.

So I started bringing that into the shop alongside regular inventory.

In theory it made sense to me: less waste, access to yarn you can’t always find anymore, more of a range in price.

In reality… I’m not totally sure how it comes across. Some of it moves, some of it really doesn’t, and I can’t tell if it feels curated or just kind of all over the place.

I’ve also been using “heirloom” as a general direction, but I’m starting to question if that even lands when things are coming from a mix of sources.

Curious how this reads from the outside:

\- does a resale/consignment setup feel interesting at all, or just messy?

\- would you ever buy destash yarn from a shop vs directly from someone?

\- what would make you trust it?

Trying to figure out if this is something worth refining or if I’m just overcomplicating things.
