Overreacting, yelling, and low frustration tolerance
My son (7 years old) has made remarkable improvements over the past year. He’s really come a long way at school and at home. The big thing he still struggles with is overreacting when he’s told no or that he can’t have his way. It doesn’t matter how you phrase it or repackage it into a choice, he is very smart and can read between the lines. He is little negotiator so it’s not just a no once, it’s multiple times because he will continue until you drop the hammer.
When he’s told no, he always yells or talks back loudly. He no longer melts down which is fantastic. But it’s just a house where we get yelled at often, he overreacts publicly, and he is very moody with a short fuse.
Any advice here? Is this something we just need to ride out and will improve slowly with age? Or is this likely a pattern he is getting into that we are somehow making worse.
