I'm curious what everyone is using for a pillow and mattress and what thickness and material is its filling and cover.

I'm currently using an Indian cotton gadda bed and a fiber pillow. The pillow has lasted me a long time but it runs a little hot in the summer, the mattress is due for a change soon since its flattened out over the years

I recently shifted to floor sleeping on a cotton gadda/futon placed over a straw mat and the difference its made to my back health and posture is astounding. No more back pains and i feel well rested after waking up. My posture has improved drastically as well and no more waking up feeling like I've only slept for a few hours even after a proper 8 hour uninterrupted sleep.

This was something that was heavily lacking in my 6 inch thick orthopedic mattress that i purchased from abroad some 15 years ago. Tried out various relatively new (2-5 years old) 6 inch thick mattress from family members ranging from coir layered ones, memory foam, and PU mattress from sleepy cat, duroflex and springwel and it didn't feel like an improvement over floor sleeping even though they felt super comfortable and/or luxurious for the first 30 minutes of laying on it. The only thing i haven't tried is latex since they're so expensive and no one i know has one.

Now i want to continue floor sleeping but on something that doesnt require the care and maintenance a cotton futon requires like airing it out in the sun and beating it occasionally to fluff it back up.

Preferably under 4-5 inches so that it can simulate the floor sleeping/futon experience and have the ability to move it around or store upright for more usable floor space especially considering how beds take up like 50-70% of the useable floor space in small apartment rooms. In single or double/diwan/full size preferably, around 72 inches long and 36-48 inches wide with 4-5 inch thickness

Spent over 10 hours looking up various brands in the 4-5 inch thickness department and im just as confused as when I started. Mainly because none of them mention the foam density and the reviews seem generic and not genuine. Just that it's medium firm or firm and the various layer thicknesses.

Help me out please? I know most of the folks in this sub dont have the same use case for mattresses as i do and are looking for maximum comfort but maybe y'all can guide me in the right direction? Or maybe i should just stick to cotton futons?
