O, My, Not Diverticulitis This Time

I decided to go to urgent care after a few days of discomfort. I started Augmentin that the GI gave me if I started experiencing symptoms. On Tuesday, I started the mild discomfort and decided to do the Augmentin since I’m leaving on vacation next week. The discomfort wouldn’t go away so better safe than sorry. Went to urgent care. Temperature, blood pressure, pulse urine sample, blood work all good. CT Scan did not reveal diverticulitis, perforations or abscess. But, was inflamed on a small section on the top, right section. I was told to get off the Augmentin. Given a kit to provide a stool sample when I can. Doctor said it might be C diff. I had no idea what that was so looked it up. I’m currently drinking Kefir milk, taking probiotic gummies on a low res diet. This is horrible. I’m glad I’m not in terrible pain just uncomfortable. I might have to postpone my vacation in Southeast Asia…again. I did once already due to my diverticulitis/colon issue in January. 😢🤦‍♂️🇹🇭

When Do You Stop Fasting

I had my initial flare 6 months ago and the discomfort has been hanging around since. I was starting to feel better last week but Monday, discomfort and mild pain came back. Started amoxicillin and have been fasting for two and a half days. Discomfort and pain still there. When do you start reintroducing solid food? I might go another day. I’ve been drinking water, teas, a little coffee, beef and chicken broth. Everything else feels fine. I even did intense exercise twice this week.

I’ve had smoldering diverticulitis, or at least that’s what the gastro said in February. My initial flare was in November 2025 and the discomfort has been hanging around ever since. It seemed to be improving last week then, yesterday felt the persistent pressure. Not too painful but uncomfortable. It’s been hanging around for about 48 hours now so I started fasting earlier today. I have augmentin the gastroenterologist gave me and said I could take them if I started getting pain. I don’t have a fever or any signs of infection but wondering if I should just start a regiment of augmentin for 10 days. I leave for vacation in 7 days so this is a bit concerning. For now, I’m just fasting and taking Tylenol. I’m waiting for a clinician from my provider to call to ask if I should just try the antibiotic and see what happens. I’ve read augmentin has worked for someone on this sub…

This is my second week of doing random complexes or general workouts. I had a rough weekend so I took Monday off.

Today was the ABC with the single bell. I used a 24 kg bell and put the timer on for 20 minutes. I was able to get 17 total rounds. This takes a little longer than the double ABC version. I did it just as DJ recommends: (r) clean and press, switch hands (l) clean and press and then 2 squats, set the bell down and shake off the tension, (l) clean and press, switch hands (r) clean and press, two squats = 1 round.

I followed this with 5 supersets of 3 pull ups and 5 dips and finally suitcase carries, 40 yards each hand x3. And then 35 minute walk.

I’m thinking of running ABF4FL doing the single bell version after an upcoming vacation. This was my first time actually doing the single bell ABC and I enjoyed it. So, maybe doing a full 8 weeks of ABF4FL might be my next program.

A few years ago, I purchased a Fender 1950’s MIM body with SD Antiquities. I was curious about the baseball bat neck and purchased an AllParts MIJ maple beauty of a neck.

The Antiquities weren’t for me so swapped them for a SD Quarter Pound in the neck and a Hot Tele in the bridge. Holy Hell. These things were way too hot for my application. So, I went straight to the source and got Fender Pure Vintage pick ups. I also got Wilkinson compensated brass saddles and swapped the pick guard. Much better. I prefer the white on candy apple red. Looks like a little race car. I am really enjoying the baseball bat neck. It’s actually pretty comfortable.

The RBC. Damn. This is an ass kicker. Earlier in the week I did a pull up, dip and swing complex, the Humane Burpee and today the RBC or Running Back Complex with double 22’s: 5 cleans, 5 front squats, 4 cleans, 4 front squats…3, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1. Don’t put the bell down until you’ve finished. You are supposed to work up to 5 rounds but I could only do 3. My arms were actually toast. The squats weren’t so bad.

After the RBC, 3x8 gymnastic ring push ups, 5 minutes suitcase carries with the 28 non stop then my coveted morning walk.

Try the RBC and you will see what I’m talking about.

As I explained in D1, just finished ABF last week and am spending the next two or so weeks doing Whatever.

Today was…The Humane Burpee. 15 swings, 10 goblet squats, 10 pushups, 15 swings, 9 goblet squats, 9 pushups, 15 swings, 8 goblet squats, 8 pushups…15 swings, 1 goblet squat, 1 pushups.

You can do 5 rounds too or play with the numbers. I had tried 10 rounds before and I remember it being pretty tough. However, this morning, I got through it handily in 9:10! The ABF really got me in great condition. I did take my BPM before starting my warm up today and was at 51.

Being the Humane Burpee doesn’t have a row, after completing it, I did 3x8 horizontal body rows which my body seemed to like. Did my 40 minute walk outside immediately after.

I recommend the Humane Burpee if you are ever pressed for time and want to get your work in. Even 5 rounds are great.

I completed the ABF last week and loved it. I feel good and can see a difference in my physique. There’s probably a reason it is an. 8 week program. You might feel over taxed if you went longer than that.

I’ll be headed to a well deserved vacation in Southeast Asia in two weeks so I’m just doing whatever 3x a week till then.

This morning, I opted for a workout I heard Dan John put together on one of his past podcasts for a listener. It goes like this: 3 pull ups, 5 dips and 15 swings?with the 24, one immediately after the other for 10 rounds. I rested as needed. This took me 16:12 to finish. After ABF my conditioning is pretty good. It a good amount of volume in under 20 minutes.

Next, hit the timer for 5 minutes, and did farmer carries with a 24 and 28, went up and back, up and back in my hallway, switched hands and repeated till the time ran out. Went for a 45 minute walk after outside.

I love ‘whatever’. Thanks for the idea, DJ.
