Packout Vacuum Mini-Stack, Compact Dolly Tutorial

Inspired by /u/Jriddim and his Packout Vacuum + Debris Separator setup, I decided to put together a mini-stack of my own.

The only change I made was to simplify the half-dolly. I believe he used casters that attach with four screws and had to cut a wooden spacer. I don’t want any wood on my stack as my vacuum will get extremely dirty and need washing pretty often.

I opted to cannibalize a 20 plus year old Craftsman creeper’s casters for my mini-stack and forgo making a spacer at all.

These stem casters use a female cap (Connector Cap) and are perfect for a low profile installation. I purchased a few of the OG Compact Packout Wall Plates from Napa (48-22-8486) https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/MIL48228486 and for the Compact Dolly, I hogged out the holes with a 3/8” drill bit and my die grinder with a burr bit to fit the hex head “cap” snugly.

3 washers stacked on the stem compensated for the thickness difference between the compact wall plate being thinner than the frame of the old creeper, and also allowed me to easily grab the flats of the stem caster itself with a crescent wrench. A little thread locker on the rusty stem, a little Red N Tacky grease on the ancient ball bearings. And she rolls smooth!

First job cleanup was a breeze. Loving the Proper Tool Company charger mount.

I’m in need of some assistance. Inspired by this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/MilwaukeeTool/comments/1gfkudm/just\_got\_the\_debris\_separator\_for\_the\_packout\_vac/ I recently purchased the Debris Separator in order to build my own vacuum mini-stack, and did not realize that these products have incompatible hose and accessories. As I understand it (and I could very well be wrong here, so please correct me if I am) the Packout Vacuum has a 1 1/4” hose and the Separator has 1 7/8” hose with 2 1/2” ports.

I want the vacuum on top so the tools are accessible and to use the original Packout vacuum hose end as my primary tool. That’ll make it easy to stick the original crevice tool and floor/utility nozzle on that end as I want.

I got the Vacuum first and I notched the lid so I could keep the included Vacuum Power Tool adapter with the tool on-the-go. The Debris Separator has big 2 1/2” ports and includes a a 1 7/8” hose and a 1 7/8” and 2 1/2” Hose Adapter.

I can stick the original “Tool End” of the Packout Vacuum hose into the Hose Adapter and it makes a perfect fit that stays put. If I swap over to the vacuum’s adapter, the fit is loose- not a usable configuration.

  1. Is it possible to get an adapter for the twist lock suction port on the Packout Debris Separator the steps down to the twist-lock 1 1/4 hose for the Packout Vacuum so that I can simply purchase an additional Packout Vacuum hose and be able to run the original tools? I don’t see the needed sizes on Milwaukee’s website, which is surprising, and am guessing I’ve missed the needed parts. I’ve looked on some 3d print websites but I have zero experience in this area.

  2. Can I get a better adapter that’ll thread on to the 1 1/4” hose and fit snugly into the 2 1/2” port on the Debris Separator’s inlet?

  3. Are there any 1 1/4” twist-lock right angle adapters that fix the nasty curve coming out of the vacuum and point the hose either out, or down towards the dust separator?

Thanks for the help!
