Woodpecker found dead Michigan
I'm new to this community. Not an avid birder, but care about birds. I have your average home feeder with seed (general wild variety with black sunflower) and general store bought suet. Woodpeckers tend towards the latter. I just looked out the window and saw this poor dead fellow. I wanted to share as I know birds are on decline. I see no rough trauma, and it was found about 6 feet from the feeder, away from any windows (we have reflective decals). It was unusually cool today (mid 40s- 50 F). I buried it as I do when I find deceased critters. Thoughts?
