Is Threads Secretly Becoming a Dating App? 👀

With the rollout of "Dating Threads," I'm starting to wonder what direction is this apps going towards to?

I've been running into a ton of profiles that feel like classic dating app bios — overly curated, no real post history, and here's the sketchy part: most of them aren't linked to a real Instagram account. Some are connected to what look like fake Instagram accounts that were clearly just made to pass the verification check.

Also, some very popular Threads accounts with thousands of followers are linked to Instagram accounts that have only a few hundred followers!!

Like... isn't the whole point of Threads that it's tied to your Instagram identity? So why are these profiles even allowed to exist?

Has anyone else noticed this? Is "Dating Threads" just an unofficial trend people are running with, or is Meta quietly encouraging it? And more importantly — should they be doing more to crack down on fake/unlinked accounts taking advantage of it?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, especially if you’ve ever wondered about it before!
