perfect matchmaking. absolutely fantastic
tournament went from being a fun and easy way to get a coins to a miserable slog. at least old tournaments let me choose what type of march to play 😭

*gadget noticed restoration activity had been rather quiet recently. he needed a way to wake things up*
"i know! a camping trip! what could go wrong?"
*and so, gadget called everyone to base early in the morning and told them to pack. 5 minutes later they were crammed into his rental car.*
"huh. bit small. never mind! we'll walk! fresh air, how wonderful!"
*this would go well. he was sure of it*
would be interesting to see his travels long after everyone has gone. but also depressing as heck 😭
can't work out how to fill in this hole in the middle. can't raise the water level because i need to place glass
absolutely love nya's sacrifice music but can only listen to it on YouTube
same goes for the version of the overture used in big moments like when everyone escapes chen's Island
i feel bad for him 😭
like everyone else, I really enjoy this episode.
emotional beats are really strong this time, especially the final minutes. it's use of time travel is a really clever way to drive the plot.
clockwork droids are incredibly creepy and i love the doctor's absolute love for their construction at the worst time.
rose and mickey are both great despite not doing much.
overall, it's really good
best moment:
the doctor's drunken student act is hilarious
ranking:
school reunion 4/5
tooth and claw 4/5
the girl in the fireplace 4/5
new earth 3/5
next week: robot time!
I'll rank each episode individually then combine them the week after
*the town of smokestack was usually quiet on Sunday morning. but today, a large crowd had gathered to watch this weird cat go for a dive. although she insisted she would be fine, being a cat gave her understandable nerves*
"I'll be alright. i can do this"
>am i talking to the crowd or myself? doesn't matter. let's get this over with<
*she took a running jump and plunged into the bay, cold water soaking her to the skin. she pressed on. fighting her way through the murk until she found the plant she was looking for*
*she reached out her hand and bubbles spilled up her arm and into her mouth, filling it with the oxygen she needed. she did the only reasonable thing. reached the bottom and sat cross legged on the stone*
*someone in the crowd turned on a timer and waited for her surface in a few seconds. that someone was a wolf named gadget, and his anxiety was peaking that day. he quickly broke into a cold sweat*
"should have never agreed to time this. come on.....10 minutes. were are you?"
"what if it failed? and she drowned? I'd lose her again.....no no no please come up soon...."
*all he got was an oxygen bubble in response. even when she'd long passed the world record for staying underwater, mavis was taking her sweet time*
*30 minutes*
*1 hour*
*5 hours*
*this was gonna be a long day*
*it was midnight, and mavis wandered along the beach, moodily kicking sand. tonight she had been sleeping on an old boat, but couldn't rest*
*she had been feeling down ever since the disaster at water palace. she had stood on a ledge and tried to gather the courage to jump in and help.....but she couldn't. natural cat instincts. bah. luckily others like gadget were there to step in but if they hadn't....*
*she shuddered, imagining sinking out of sight with no one to hear your screams......*
*troubled by these thoughts, she waded into the ocean. it was beautiful that night! smokestack Bay was filled with bioluminescent plants that lit up the ocean*
*she waded deeper, until only her head was visible. surprisingly, her hand felt warm. strange, as the water was cold. but a strange fizzing sensation filled her body. out of sheer curiosity, she pointed her hand at a plant....*
"oh my.....oh my....."
*bubbles erupted from the plant and surrounded her, filling her with an oxygen shield*
"this is incredible!"
*excited, she spun around. the water contained in the plants circled around her in a vortex of light, which eventually dived into her palms and gave her a strength she hadn't felt in a while. she could help after all*
even when i was younger mr Krupp's ending was hard to swallow. usually in a long running series the characters will go through some kind of growth, even small. deleting CU from Krupp's brain was fine but here's the problem. he doesn't change. he goes back to the abusive principal from the first book. he could have been even a little bit softer, like in the movie. but no. same horrible principal as before that's what makes the ending so tragic for me
still as fantastic as ever. krillitanes are some of my favorite monsters and their plan is insane and i love it (they introduce a puzzle that gives someone admin powers if they solve it then never mention it again)
sarah jane is brilliant. admittedly not as impactful to me since I've barely watched classic (waiting for all the animations to release so i can watch them in order) but the fact that i really like her shows how good the episode is. her dynamic with rose is really interesting and i like how it explores the doctor's relationship with his companions
k--9 is brilliant. because he's k-9. (the 'shooty dog thing' line stood out but only because my uncle helped write the book with that name 😁)
overall it's just a satisfying, enjoyable episode
side note: the kids are celebrating kenny 'blowing up the school' en masse. poor kid is going to prison once the authorities arrive 😂
best moment:
rose: is she alright?
*screaming and the sound of flames*
kitchen lady: it's ok. she does that
ranking:
school reunion: 4/5
tooth and claw: 4/5
new earth: 3/5
*she tried to look at the glass ceiling which had been repaired a while back after she....well.*
*to take her mind off attempted murder, louve headed to the clothing shop after and picked out some new clothes. and then had a lovely drink in the wisp themed cafe. what a nice day*
