My smart-home sensors are tracking something I can’t see.

I’ve lived in this place for two years and never had a single issue until I installed those Ring motion sensors last week. It started off small. I’d be sitting on the couch and my phone would buzz: “Motion detected in the hallway.” I’d look up, and the hallway would be empty. I just figured it was a bug or maybe the AC moving the curtains. I even checked for mice, but found nothing. But last night was different.

I was laying in bed around 1:30 AM when my phone vibrated on the nightstand. I checked the notification.

“Motion detected in the kitchen.”

I froze. I live alone. I listened as hard as I could, but the apartment was dead silent. Then, ten seconds later, another buzz: “Motion detected in the living room.”

Then: “Motion detected in the bedroom hallway.”

Whatever it was, it was moving toward my door, one room at a time. I stared at the gap under my bedroom door, waiting to see a shadow or hear a floorboard creak. Nothing. Just that heavy, ringing silence.

Then my phone buzzed one last time. I looked down at the screen and I swear my heart stopped.

“Motion detected 3 feet away.”

I stared at the corner of my room. I don't see anything, but the sensor light is glowing solid red, and it hasn't turned off for five minutes.

I think it's standing right over me.

Daryl and Carol: The ultimate character development duo.

Looking back at Season 1, you’d never guess these two would become the heart of the show. They both started as survivors of different types of abuse and ended up being the most capable leaders in the group.

Which era of their friendship was your favorite? For me, it’s still the Season 4/5 transition.

The Ken and Barbie Killer case is just infuriating the more you look into it.

I’ve been watching some documentaries on Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka lately, and I honestly can’t wrap my head around how she got away with such a short sentence. They call them the "Ken and Barbie" killers because of the image they put out, but the reality was so much darker. The part that always gets to me is what they did to Karla’s own sister, Tammy. It’s bad enough what they did to those other girls, but the fact that Karla helped drug her own sister on Christmas Eve and then sat back and watched her parents grieve what they thought was an "accident" for years is just pure evil.

It makes me so sick that the "Deal with the Devil" actually held up even after the tapes were found showing she was a willing participant.
