Calories vs Sugar which one actually matters more for staying lean?
so I have two oats options and I'm genuinely confused which one is better for staying lean
plain rolled oats — 400 cal per 100g, zero sugar, zero additives, just oats
other one — 380 cal per 100g but has 14g of jaggery sugar per 100g
I consume 50g daily so we're talking 200 cal vs 190 cal and 0g sugar vs 7g sugar per serving
now the sugary one is technically lower in calories per serving which threw me off completely because I always assumed no sugar = automatically healthier and better for body composition but is that actually true or am I just falling for marketing,
like does 7g of jaggery at breakfast actually do anything bad if you're trying to stay lean or is total calorie intake the only thing that really matters at the end of the day
for context I train 5 days a week and average around 13k steps daily, starting to see a bit of my abs and really don't wanna mess that up over something stupid like this
so which one would you actually go with and why
