Hey Guys,
Looking for some quick advice since my first attempt of using a HVLP Pneumatic spray gun may have caused some drying/curing issues.
I may have thinned this paint way too thin causing the issues but I’m curious to know since I’m thinning using a 1.4 mm tip, should I be using a hardener?
It’s the enriched enamel Valspar, I’ve also seen a mod to widen the tip to a 2 mm size (have an extra gun setup) if need be. I didn’t like how the brushing it on looked on the kitchen cabinets.
Sorry, forgot to mention this is for a new kitchen color.
I’m seeing a 10% reduction using water for the thinner with the paint. Initially, I just tested the spray atomization and added water slowly to each test based on what I was experiencing.
Now going with my initial testing, I’ve experienced the paint was very easily marked/scratched and when I would go to remove the mark I would either see paint coming off onto the rag or leave a bigger smudge depending on the material I used to remove it.
So to reiterate, when using the paint with a HVLP Pneumatic sprayer, should I thin it 10% with water? Should I mod the tip to a 2mm mod and should I be using any hardening agent to get a better final product? Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
