A month ago I noticed a momma bird built a nest inside our door wreath and saw eggs in there. I knew right then and there I lost access to that door for the next 5-6 weeks lol.

During that time I watched as mom incubated her eggs until they hatched and then watched as the birds grew up. Fast. To be honest I started getting attached to them. Every time a delivery person dropped off a package I got nervous they were getting too close to the door even though I knew they had no idea there was a nest there. So I made a sign to please be careful when approaching the door.

Anyways yesterday, I walked outside to check on them and all of a sudden two of the four flew out of their nest. I was a little shook because they got close to my head and almost pooped on me haha. Anyways, after that I checked up on the nest a few hours later and it was completely empty. They had all made it and flew away. The nest has stayed empty since then.

When they left, I went back inside and started to cry. I’m glad they made it and are flying but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t attached to them even though I knew at a certain point they would leave. Idk ever since then I’ve been a little down and just wondering if anyone else felt this way after their first nest?
