I feel like I need to know if he lets his toenails grow like he lets his fingernails grow. It’s a shower thought I had today and I need to know. If anyone is aware please put me out my misery.
The fact is that if he made bad music, and wasn’t an amazing artist and performer, people would not be so quick to rush to his defence.
I am not saying that reaching an out of court settlement with the alleged victims is any real indication of wrongdoing, but equally, I don’t believe that him being found “not guilty” counts for much either. I mean, look at O.J. - It’s a sad but accepted reality of the justice system that being “not guilty” doesn’t mean you didn’t actually do it. But so many supporters of his, especially recently with the release of the ‘Michael’ biopic, treat this fact as conclusive, and it ought to be enough to wipe the slate clean.
No matter which way you cut it, his relationship with underage people was inappropriate and obsessive. THAT is the only inarguable fact that the trial proved. The books he owned, which were inscribed by himself (and he admitted in court belonged to him), contained photographs of full frontal child nudity. This same man, in his own words, admitted to wanting to sleep in the same bed with children.
But most unfortunately, I think the continued blind loyalty that a lot of M.J. fans has scared many victims of abuse (especially from wealthy, high-power individuals) from reporting, in fear of being called a liar and harassed. They attempt to distinguish M.J. from people like P Diddy and Jeffrey Epstein, but in trying their hardest to maintain a spotless legacy, they are only enabling and preserving a system which allows for type of disgusting behaviour.
