Discharged during a respiratory/neurological crisis: My scariest ER experience with CHS

I’ve had CHS since 2015, but this week was terrifying. I went to the ER after 24 hours of vomiting. They gave me IV fluids, Gabapentin, and Ativan.

I had two separate "attacks" where I couldn't breathe, my throat felt like it was closing (with a loud snoring sound on intake), and my muscles constricted so badly I could only lean to one side.

The first attack happened Sunday evening, and the hospital staff witnessed it. Despite that, I was still processed for discharge. Then, early Tuesday morning, it happened again. While I was waiting for an Uber in the lobby, I had another attack that was so severe the lobby staff called a nurse thinking I was having a seizure. Instead of re-evaluating or stabilizing me, the staff simply escorted me out to my ride.

I ended up having to take Benadryl because I remembered it being used for similar reactions in the past, and it finally helped the symptoms subside. I’m honestly afraid that next time I won't be able to catch my breath and no one will help.

Has anyone else dealt with a hospital ignoring a clear medication reaction or respiratory distress during discharge? What were these muscle/breathing symptoms?

At first I thought it was an Awacs. However I think it's more weather related. Spotted at ILM around 12:30 pm.

This is annoying. I like to receive text notifications that my bill is due or when a payment is made. Verizon also send me spam to the number. I can't stop it without stopping text notifications.

Verizon, please do better.
