Bladed Cog Magus

To make this I cut off the top portion of the admech model’s front and back pieces just above the chest “darth vader control panel”. Filled the void with greenstuff and lowered the prince’s collar piece, then stuck on the stock arm options (there are 3) for the admech. Really pleased with how it turned out.

Diorama Display’s 🤔

While at Canada Computers buying some Pla from their 3D printing isle, I wandered over to the computer case isle. 😲 Apparently the trend for gaming pc’s is “fish tank” cases with tempered glass windows. They came in a variety of sizes and price points. They all have room for routing cables and have a power switch, usb ports and so much potential to be used as a diorama box. Just wondering if anyone else has seen the potential these have.

Cyberdeck WIP log #1

I’m currently going through the process of modifying a 1985 Sharp Pc-700 portable pc, (proto laptop). I carefully disassemble it, so it’s still fully functional without the case. It weighed a hefty 20 pounds and had 2 5” floppy disc slots with no internal memory for $1200 in 85. With all the accessories including the external SSD which was the same size as the computer itself it was $5000. I’m reaching out to the community to help me find a screen for my build. It’s approximately 10.5” diagonally across for the screen. There is about 1-2” extra room under the bezel. It originally had an LCD screen as the keyboard clips in and folds flush with the pc. So I need to find something that fits inside that. Any help would be appreciated.

Full colour liquid inkjet printing

I went on a field trip today to Objecx Unlimited who are a commercial and industrial 3D printing company operating out of Mississauga, Ont. The machine that printed this is the same model of 3D printer that Little Canada uses for their 3D prints. (Objecx runs the 3D scan/print service for them). The printer works on the same principle as a paper liquid inkjet jet machine. A white Abs plastic is printed per layer and the ink head makes a pass right after to colour the print. I’m guessing that’s how it works. It was a quiet day today being Easter Monday so none of the machines were running. I’m really curious with full colour 3 D printing being where the hobby’s at with Bambu and other brands offing multi colour and multi material printing. It seems far more gimcky than a full colour ink print. I got a full tour of their facility. 😅 their biggest printer has a minimum nozzle of 0.6mm and a max of 3mm. Which is used to print furniture and other similarly sized prints. It did not use filament spools, rather raw pellets of plastic which are pushed into an injection moulding head which melts the plastic and feeds it into the print head.

Do you think we’ll ever see ink jet printing coming to hobby level? These machines are in the $XX,000 range.
