Hello everyone. I’m feeling really lost about my career and I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore.
For context, I’m a pre-med student. Where I’m from, family and society heavily push you toward becoming a doctor or engineer because they’re considered the only “respectable” careers. I usually get good grades (around 93%) and right now I’m preparing for my medical entrance exam.
But the thing is, medicine in my country feels extremely saturated and there aren’t many good job opportunities anymore. On top of that, I’m starting to realize I may have chosen this path only because it was the only option presented to me my whole life.
I want to discover who I actually am and what I want, but I honestly don’t know. I’m scared that once I enter medical college, there’ll be no turning back and my entire life will just become an endless cycle of studying and working.
The worst part is that I don’t feel strongly interested in anything right now, so I have no idea what direction to take instead.
Has anyone else gone through this? How did you figure out what you actually wanted from life?
