I don't know if it's just me but sometimes it's much easier to understand things through metaphors than for someone to tell me something directly. Especially when it comes to normal social situations or feelings that most others deal with on a daily basis.

Example.... Your whole life you've been told by your abusers that touching the color red is bad. Someone else gives you something red, you automatically don't want to touch it because, it's bad.
