The doctors' union had previously objected do the reviews findings, which essentially urged for far greater scepticism and caution about treating gender dysphoria with medical interventions.

Relevance to the podcast: Jesse is one of the subject area's most famous and scrupulous journalists; the review has previously come up on the show.

It occurred to me today that this is something which will likely happen sooner than later:

  • It's sixteen years since Lost finished (Christ), which is, if anything, a long time for a famous show to lie dormant these days.
  • It's difficult to name a once-finished intellectual property which hasn't been restarted in some way.
  • A haunted tropical island is a timelessly appealing setting.
  • Lost is particularly well suited for the steeaming landscape in which we live.
  • It's owned by Disney, which is always trying to make use of its existing properties.
  • The vast majority of its cast are still alive - the show has a deep well of characters to draw on for meaningful/cheap appearances.
  • The mystical lore of the show allows for repeating ideas and had large gaps - it wouldn't be too difficult to justify having a smoke monster ticking around or to delve deeper into Dharma or the island's ruins.
  • A cheap but easy hook - "Here's some answers to questions you had from 20 years ago."
