I mentioned this fic in a post and people replied asking for the link. I tried filtering in ao3 but it was just way too specific and vague. Basically:

Tom Riddle Sr. is raising Tom. I don’t remember how they met but I’m like, 80% sure that Tom was at the orphanage first and then his father found out about him? Im not sure if by this time Tom knew about magic and Hogwarts. Either way, Tom Sr. knows he’s magic and tries his best to educate himself and to take him to the wizarding world. I remember a specific scene when they were on their way to Diagon ally and took the knight bus. It was a horrible experience for them obviously, and when they were about to leave Lily Potter steps on and tries helping Tom Sr. but he flinches away.

Lily almost takes this personally, thinking it’s about her blood status, but Tom steps in saying it’s bc he has Gynophobia (bc of Merope).

Another scene I remember is when they get to Gringots Tom Sr. does some kind of test and they find out that he is from an ancient magical line. I don’t think it was a wizarding line but smth more ancient. Something to do with a dragon? Either way, it’s so old that the Goblins respected the man and offered to teach him everything he needed to know.

It’s not much to go on but I hope someone recognizes it.

I have this story that I’ve been cooking up in my head for YEARS now and someday I really do want to put pen to paper and bring it to life. However, I can’t seem to focus on the actual story and keep trying to hash out unimportant details.

Basically, in the most dumbed down bare-bones of the story without info dumping: MC and little sibling are smth more than human that isn’t allowed and are hunted for it. Cue running from the law trying to find a hidden utopia said to only have people like them.

Now the main story is supposed to be the adventure part and the mystery of trying to find this hidden world, but I can’t stop world building on the hidden world!! I wasn’t even planning on showing much of it since when they get there it’s at the end of the story. Now I do plan on expanding on it but only in the second “book” where their story continues but thats waaay into the future.

Does anyone else have this problem? How do you prioritize world building in this case? Does this mean my main story is just too boring in comparison?

I’ve watched Naruto a while back but I’m just now starting to explore the fandom through fanfiction. Now obviously I’m kind of testing the waters, trying to see what I like and don’t like, but there is just one fic that I think just checks all my boxes and it’s making me frustrated about trying to find anything close.

It’s called Six Years Too Long and UGHHHH it’s so good. Such a good fic to start out on for this fandom in my opinion. Some tropes in particular that I like is basically smart Naruto, friend/familial bond with Kurama, and the fact that Minato is alive and is able to protect Naruto from the village.

After this fic I started filtering out the tags that I mentioned but for some reason nothing is catching my attention! Idk what to do! I don’t want to just drop the fandom bc I can’t find the right fic for me. Is there anything similar to the one I mentioned??

Yo! So, I’ve obviously watched Naruto but I never got around to finishing it. I got a good chunk of the way through tho so it’s not like I’m going in blind but one thing I am lacking in knowledge are the Jinchuuriki. First off, I completely forgot that they were called that, and second, I don’t think I saw a single other one besides Killer B, Naruto, and Gaara.

When I went down a rabbit hole and found out about the others I started thinking of fanfic ideas where you know, they DIDN’T die and were able to band together like a little family. The only problem is, I have no information about these people.

I mean, I’m pretty sure there’s not much info on them to begin with but I’m starting at level zero. All I know is what they look like and what tail number they got.

Who are these people? What was there situation that they ended up as Jinchuuriki? Were they as mistreated as Naruto and Gaara? What are there personalities? What was their fighting style? Stuff like that are things I need to know before writing a fanfic about them ya know? Now, I can probably just find all this stuff online if I do some research, which I will, but I just wanted to put this out there and see if there were people who could answer these questions or have info I might want to know.

Honestly, at this point, if there is so little info about them I might just wing it, but I don’t want to completely butcher the characters.

Idk if this is just me but I haven’t heard anyone else talk about this but did y’all know that some of your social anxiety is attached to your adhd?? Like, saying it out loud, it makes sense, at least to me. Social anxiety (in my experience) was mostly bc I was so in my head about what to do, what to say, if I sound weird, try not to interrupt, wait your turn, just constantly overthinking. And ofc once you get on medication those thoughts just, vanish, and with it, your social anxiety.

Now I know this probably isn’t for everyone, you can totally have anxiety separate from your adhd but it was just funny how I realized that all of a sudden, human interaction wasn’t so scary anymore and I was able to be myself without words getting stuck in my throat. It’s like a 2 for 1 deal!

Okay so, a bit of a rant but I take Adderall for my ADHD and I noticed not too long ago that it didn’t work as well for an entire week. I have a part time job that I have gone in unmedicated only twice, and both times felt AWFUL.

I felt like a burden the entire week, my coworkers having to pick up my slack when I was falling behind and feeling unstable. Only to find out the reason for this was bc my medication doesn’t work while on my period!! I can’t remember the exact explanation but a tik tok came on my fyp basically explaining that some adhd meds don’t work on your cycle while others do and Adderall was one of the listed as not working.

My next appt with my Psychiatrist I bring this up bc I had no idea this was even a thing and I wondered what to do about it. It’s not like I can just take off work every time my period starts. BUT all she told me to do was to not take my meds that week and “give myself a break” and start it back up again when it’s over.

…what’s that supposed to do for me??? I still have work! And I can’t imagine going in without being medicated an entire week! It feels like torture! And it’s not like in school where my disorder only affects me but it’ll affect my coworkers as well (at least that’s how I feel). Idk, am I overreacting? This advice just seems dumb and inconsiderate. Even if there is nothing I can do about the whole “medication won’t work when on period thing” I feel like how she suggested it was weird.

I’m a SUCKER for Harry traveling to an alternate dimension where everyone lives, including his parents BUT I’ve noticed that most of these stories either have Harry inhabiting the body of a Harry who had just died, so no one knows that it’s not him, OR their Harry died prematurely and a new Harry shows up alive.

Which makes sense bc of the theory that no two beings can occupy the same dimension at the same time, so one of them has to go. But what if instead of killing one of them off, there are just…two Harry’s. I’m imagining a gaunt, starved, obviously traumatized Harry showing up and the Potters just adopting him, making the two Harry’s “twins”. I think the dynamic of the two very different but also similar Harrys would be awesome. Especially since most stories portray the old Harry that grew up with love and attention as a spoiled bigoted brat who doesn’t appreciate his family enough.

Are there fics similar to this? I know there are fics where Harry is legitimately a twin and is treated worse than said twin so it’s kind of the same but I’m looking for dimension travel specifically. I don’t think I’ve come across a fic like this and if there isn’t I need a writer to get on this STAT!

Okay, I literally can’t remember anything about this fic except for this one very specific scene.

I think it might’ve been a MOD Harry who traveled back in time?? Maybe he was with Regulus?? I honestly can’t remember but basically, Harry is a child but he used to be an adult. He uses a potion(?) to look the age he was previously which was around middle aged and he goes to a potion shop.

Apparently after Hogwarts he actually liked the art of potion making and became really good at it. He ends up running into Severus and they talk shop about different ingredients when the craziest thing happens. Severus FLIRTS with him! Obviously he has no clue this is Harry Potter but it made me laugh so hard. Harry turns him down gently but later on in the fic Harry does end up revealing that it was him and Snape is MODIFIED. I just find it so funny that kid Harry is literally the bane of Snape’s existence but adult Harry is exactly his type.

That’s literally all I have to go on so obvi I’m having a hard time filtering but it’s such a specific and funny scene I’m hoping someone will recognize it and remember the fic.
