The moment Arlong killed Nami’s mother right in front of her completely broke me. She was still trying to smile and stay strong for her daughters even in her final moments… I honestly couldn’t hold back tears.

And that black-and-white scene? The way it was animated made it hit even harder. It felt so raw and powerful like everything else faded away except that moment. Massive respect to Oda’s writing too, because the buildup, the emotions, and the payoff were all incredible. I didn’t expect to get this attached this early.
