Sorry if this is not the place for this question since its about old fashioned analog phone jacks. But my parents have Xfinity voice with their landline coming from the Xfinity modem. I want to hook up a cordless phone and a corded phone to this line.
I had issues with using a RJ11 splitter connected to the modem. Xfinity says this will not work and I should hook up to the whole house phone line. Unfortunately the whole house phone line is kind of a mess and so I would like to replicate it for just the two phones I need.
I found a 4 Gauge Distribution box on Amazon. Amazon 4 gauge telephone distribution box. I assume this will fix my issue?
Do I wire the Xfinity modem to the "from telecom port" and then wire the two phones to networks? I think Xfinity's recommended configuration would be interpreted as just hooking up the modem to one of the output ports. They just tell you to hook up the modem to any port in your house to wire up all the ports.
How is this really different from the splitter? Conditioning electronics? It doesn't look powered.
