driving instructors - interesting observation

I was driving down a road, learner coming towards me. No space for two cars, so pulled in to let him go.

He stops and I’m waiting. Both sat waiting. His car flashes and I drive back out and little forward and ask what’s up. Driver instructor a little old woman says, there’s no enough space, he’s a learner driver.

The space I gave him was enough for a white van to sail through easily, I know this because I’m quite wary of spaces as I drive an SUV and do like to have enough space myself.

yet his instructor was agitated and annoyed when telling me there wasn’t enough space for him.

I pulled back and went further in, basically on the pavement this time. When they went through her face was like thunder.

It got me thinking, poor boy, he’s being taught by a someone who clearly doesn’t have any spatial awareness and then she’s teaching him to basically expect a massive wide space to drive / manoeuvre a car, rather than using his eyes, spatial awareness and
Common sense. He looked scared 😟

It also got me thinking about the state of driving today and who’s actually teaching these young people.

I know there’s tests to become a DI but are they fit for purpose? Are people really doing them properly?

I just don’t think everyone can be a DI. it’s like knowing maths but being able to teach maths is totally different. A big part of driving is spatial awareness as well.
A lot of people don’t have this.

I’m not particularly a good driver myself and there’s no way I would become an instructor.

It’s not the first time I’ve seen a pupil display poor driving skills sat alongside an Instructor seemingly unaware.

In fact I had to change my DI when I was learning, as he was far too interesting in touching my leg, shouting at other drivers, and staring at me, rather then focussing on the road and teaching me, but that’s another tale🙄

Are there any driving instructors on here that can shed some more light on this?

Loving Handforth m&s tunes

My local M&S always plays great music, I’m always singing along puts me in a great mood, well it does me for me. Me and daughter even dance sometimes in the aisles why not 😊

I went in to Poundland last week and they were playing that hideous cover music where they pay shit singers to cover songs cos they don’t want to pay PRS. I asked the lady how do you put up with this all day, she said omg is absolutely horrible and actually there’s times I wanted to walk out….its that bad.

Also last week I went into Cex exchange and they were playing that weird goth music the rave style stuff it was absolutely dreadful, I was in the queue and it making me feel ill. I’m sure the goth people love it who work there but all the customers?

I know sound / music isn’t a problem for many people but I do think it’s something that retailers should think about, for customers and for staff!

Im serimg jobs asking for skillsets that cover two/three separate roles.
Presumably thinking they will hit the jackpot and be able to play some pleb a shitty wage for three peoples jobs plus company benefits like a 5% cash back in Morrisons if you spend 60 pounds or more, a cycle to work scheme in torrential rain, free heart attack jabs every winter and ‘hybrid’ working, 4 days in office one day at home but not on Friday or Monday or Wednesday (team building and a greggs pasty).
