Remember When...your kids (or you) were obsessed with Beannie Babies in the 90s?

Remember When...your kids (or you) were obsessed with Beannie Babies in the 90s?

I still have a bunch of them that my kids had to have. Not sure why I keep them--I guess I'm hoping one of them will be worth something someday since some once sold to collectors for thousands of dollars!

Does anyone remember Marathon candy bars?

They were my favorite candy bar as a kid and cost 15 cents at the time. The chewy caramel covered in chocolate (along with soda and Hawaiian Punch) helps to explain my many cavities as a kid. I looked for them in one of those stores that sells nostalgia candy but was told they don't sell them anymore. :( Maybe they got sued for causing cavities.

Remember When…you’d put your school clothes on layaway?

In the 70s in Michigan, we’d shop for school clothes in then-popular stores like Sears, Kmart, Woolworths and Montgomery Wards (none of which exist anymore) and put them on layaway because credit wasn’t yet a thing. I remember the anticipation when my mom would make the last payment and I could finally take them home. Then I’d wear them to school the first day along with all the other kids wearing theirs.

Since we usually had crappy cars at that age, we didn't think twice about spray painting them. Then we screeched out into the streets after the graduation ceremony in high spirits, honking our horns, blasting our car radios and hooting and hollering in glee that we were (as we saw it at the time) finally free.

No instant gratification or posing over and over. You just snapped some pictures on your 35mm camera (in this instance, Daytona Spring Break '82) and didn't see how they turned out until you developed them weeks later.
