You Can't Do That on Television

Who else is with me and misses this show?

To borrow a Gen Z phrase ... YCDTOTV walked so shows like Spongebob, etc could run (at least that's my take).

I don't know ... gets slimed

Re-watching the Original Series - Season 5

So I've been watching the OG series on Prime/YouTube and am currently on season 5.

This was a real game changing season for multiple reasons:

The redesign of the set/logo
Departure of Larry Csonka/addition of Lisa Malosky
Storm, Diamond and Viper leave
Ice returns plus Hawk and Jazz are added to the roster
Elektra, Dallas, Tank and Rebel only appear sporadically as fatigue/injury replacements
The Maze and Human Cannonball are replaced by Tug of War and Whiplash

Plus we get to see Wesley "Two Scoops" Berry, Peggy Odita, Kimberly Tyler, Troy Jackson, etc compete.

Prom memories

It's prom season for many high schools.

Discuss what you remember from that time, if you went.

Me Personally, I didn't go. Wasn't dating anyone, didn't care to ask for just one night ... and quite honestly wasn't interested in going solo.

Easter Epic of 1987

We just passed the anniversary of the (in)famous 4 OT game between the Capitals/Islanders known as the Easter Epic .... because it ended at 1:56 AM on Easter Sunday 1987.

Little did young me know at the time it would be the first of many playoff disappointments I'd witness.

Anyone from this sub attend the game? On an old thread, people who were at the game recall concession stands running out of food/drinks during the first OT; and people were reported to be sleeping in the concourse.

Gallery of glorified solo 💿

Just a gallery of albums that were released as group projects; but may as well have been solo albums.

  1. Squeeze by Velvet Underground - The group was a spent entity at this point and only Doug Yule remained. He wrote and performed most of it on his own.

  2. The Final Cut by Pink Floyd - All Roger Waters with minimal contributions from David Gilmour and Nick Mason (Richard Wright was not an official member for legal reasons). In fact the back cover says **A requiem for a post war dream by Roger Waters, performed by Pink Floyd**. Not subtle there.

  3. Love is for Suckers by Twisted Sister - Intended to be a Dee Snider album, Atlantic Records made it a TS album. Group broke up after the short supporting tour.

  4. All Shook Down by The Repalcements - Intended as a Paul Westerberg solo, his management convinced him to make it a group release. Features many guest musicians and there's no clear list on who played on which track; though it's said the only track all 4 members played on was Attitude.

  5. A Momentary Lapse of Reason by Pink Floyd - After the split/legal battle with Roger Waters, they return. David Gilmour was the driving force here as Nick Mason (He said his skills weren't up to par) and Richard Wright (still not a member) didn't contribute much.

Also you could consider the entire Paramore discography Hayley Williams solo albums because she was the only member actually signed to Atlantic Records, with the rest signed to Fueled By Ramen.

Precise Aim From Gladiator Diamond In Assault | American Gladiators | Full Episode | S04E24

Another season finale and the end of an era in multiple ways (RIP Cheryl Wilson)

  1. The final appearances of Diamond, Storm and Viper

  2. The last time Human Cannonball was played

  3. The last time the old school theme music, set, Larry Csonka and John Harland were on the show

Of course you also had the moment in Hang Tough when Betsy Erickson on the fall broke Elektra's nose.

Episode was also strange in that Laser, Saber and Zap weren't used in any events.

Overall season 4 was a step down from season 3, but the contenders here were solid.

As for the Gladiators, Lace #2 was only in 3 episodes (two standard and one International Challenge of Champions episode); Cyclone [left because of a bicep injury] and Havoc [subbed for Laser or Turbo] only appears sporadically

Season Three Grand Championship! “A Finish You Won’t Soon Forget.” | Ful...

Probably the best episode of the series IMO.

Also historic in the fact that Gold, Lace #1, Thunder, Blaze, Gemini, Ice (returned in season 5) and Nitro (returned in season 6) all left in the off-season in the merchandise money dispute.

Viper also made his debut in this episode.

Another thing I remember about this season was how Turbo (hyperextending his knee in Powerball), Gold and Lace all missed a great deal of time because of injury.
